Highschool Reunion

We're back online.

After two long weeks of midterms and then post-midterm collecting myself - I have returned. Here's the bummer about October: It's probably my favorite month of the whole year, but it's also the most insane. Here's another bummer: I prefer the fall season to any other season, but it means OU football (which means no weekend). I suppose it makes the semester go by really fast though.

A year and two days ago I took the GRE (a really traumatic experience) and now I'm in grad school. Talk about fruition.

This past weekend was Scott and Caitlin's wedding - awesome. I mean, it's pretty impressive that they were different states for 4 years and then got married! I take back the comment in the paragraph above - THAT is fruition. It gives a small nugget of hope that people really can love each other against all odds. Pretty cool. Other than it being the most expensive wedding I've ever been to (bagpipe and steak/salmon dinner? Yes.), it was really a lot of fun to see highschool friends - like a mini-highschool reunion with only the people that matter (minus a few). I'd like to give a shout out to Zach because I know he reads my blog. I'll also post this picture:

[I look like a goon]

Hey, Zach. Remember when between the ages of 12 and 13 you dated most of our childhood friends? Me too. This picture is proof that you were at one time a ladies' man. On a related note, I was [----] that close to having a 13 year-old-boy as a client. Zach, do you remember you when you were 13? You can imagine my panic. By the grace of God, it didn't happen. I think young twenty-something girls should not be allowed therapize 13-year-old boys. That's asking for all kinds of inappropriate transference. Spare me.

Plans for today: work for another 30 minutes, take care of some business, Charley's Steakery, blowing all of my OU/TX money. Wish me luck!!

BRB

I can't post a blog until I finish my mid-semester evaluations (AKA the last step until a school-free weekend). BRB, hopefully.

Knock Thrice to Enter

I have a whole host of things to do today at work ... but I can't resist blogging. I'm not even sure I have that much to say. I mean I haven't even read the OUDaily yet. That's how far behind I am.

I just had a gordita from Taco Bell for lunch. Big mistake. When I start having tbell for lunch - that means it's time to go to the grocery store - which is on my list of things to do, but it won't happen. That's okay. I'm considering a frozen broccoli purchase though, thanks to the Clakleys.

So I'm thinking about going global with my blog. Global = mentioning it on facebook. My concern is that people will read it and I won't know about it. Which is fine, because this is hardly worth reading anyway, but it feels like an invasion of privacy. Maybe I'll make it like a secret club. Knock thrice to enter. [MAN, that would be a great band name!]

Oh, speaking of Taco Bell (I hate that you can't copy&paste on blogger) - While, I waited at the drive-thru for 20 minutes ... I saw this motley crew of teens walk in. I guess MAYBE they drove from the highschool for off campus lunch, but that's pretty far for terrible mexican food. Based on the fact that they looked like little street urchins, with Paul Mall cigarettes hanging out of their 17-year-old mouths, I can only assume that they were skipping school. If I were going to skip school, I would go to whataburger and then go bowling- I judged them for choosing Taco Bell. At least leave the city limits, you delinquents. [Here, take this personality assessment and we'll see if we should just go ahead and incarcerate you now.]

Forecast for the remainder of the day:
-update budget
-grocery list
-pick up OU/TX ticket
-mail rent check to my dad
-class
-observation
-Grey's
-Private Practice
-Jim and Pam's Wedding
-Group Administered Tests: Chapter 4 (Yes, I skipped the chapter on reliability. Ironic, I am aware)

Weekend (Life) Update

Wowzer, things have HAPPENED since that last post.

1.) I used the firepit a week and a half ago. It was excellent. Invited some counseling girls over for a chatsy in front of the fire. Christine brought enough s'mores supplies to feed a small army. And then we all went home with chigger bites.
2.) Remember that Trigger I posted about?? Well I bought him on 9/27. He's the best dog ever- and he keeps me laughing. Although, I feel like this is foreshadowing my attachment to a child. I find it difficult to leave the house because I just want to sit with him all the time. My parents came up (and brought Ivy) and we took him to the vet to get him checked out. He's a healthy boy! The staff commented on how well behaved he was - yes, I took credit even though I had only owned him for three days.
3.) I went to Cici's for the first time in WAY TOO LONG. Man, I love that place.

I also visited the Clakleys last weekend (Friday-Monday). I'll be honest, I really didn't want to come back to Norman. Nothing like driving back to "the grind" and knowing you have little to look forward to until Christmas Break.

Synopsis
Friday: Meant to leave at 8 AM, left at 10 AM. An incident occurred that will not be named here for the purpose of some readers. Drove through Tulsa (I like Tulsa ... I don't think I would hate myself if I ended up in Tulsa), stopped in Joplin, MO to let Trigger potty. Wind was blowing so hard that he peed on his foot. It was really sad to watch because he was visibly annoyed. Arrived in Springfield, MO and Elyse and I basically pushed Matt and Trigger out of the way because we HAD TO GO TO CHICK-FIL-A!!! Why? Can't really say. We needed it. Then we went to the mall - not too shabby. There was a Sephora ... I think that says a lot about a mall. I got totally snubbed in the food court when we were trying to scam some free samples. SNUBBED. Elyse saw it happen. [Oh, I forgot to mention that on the way to the mall we saw a teletubby dancing in the median. Luckily, I was able to snag a picture while in motion and will hopefully post it later.] Then we went to the public library. Why would you go to the public library, you ask? Because it's awesome. It's like going to a HUGE Barnes and Noble (complete with coffee shop and magazine rack) where you don't have to feel guilty for having no intention to buy a single thing. I would spend most of my time there if ANYWHERE ELSE had a library like that. We also went to $1 Jewelry Galore - but it was fruitless.

Friday Night: Downtown Springfield. HOPPIN'!!! I mean, it helped that it was the art walk (meaning the art galleries stay open late) but I feel like angsty Springfield youth would have been there regardless. We saw some kids being arrested (probably just reprimanded) by the cops - we think a watergun was involved. We (so... Matt) also shmoozed at an open event venue. Free appetizers? YES WE'LL COME IN!!! Then we ate at the Springfield Brewery (can't remember if that was the actual name). Never been so content with a caesar salad and beer cheese soup. Also had to nom off of Elyse's chili. Matt had a really good looking pizza but he was NOT going to share. Too good.

Saturday: Pumpkin Spice coffee and a pumpkin donut. 300 calories per donut? Yes, please. Drove to Branson - that was a treat. Branson Landing was pretty neato. We tried to take a river cruise but would have had to pool our life savings to afford it. I think it would be fun to go shopping at Brandon Landing for Christmas. We also saw an Osmond-like family (less of them) performing outside of the five-and-dime [again picture to come later]. I mean, there's no way they were related - I think the "father" scouted some talent and came up with this on his own. Before leaving Branson Landing we had to get a snackie at CHARLEY'S STEAKERY!!! It was an actual restaurant, not just a mall shack. The three of us split a $14 meal. Thanks, Charley. Then we drove to the Chateau resort on Table Rock Lake - someone take me there? Please? Matt said he planned on taking us there all along, but we refused to give him any credit. After a wild goose chase to Silver Dollar City, we headed back toward Springfield and ate at Lambert's "home of the throwed roll" YUMMMMM! Should have crammed some okra and rolls in my purse. We returned home and watched OU lose to Miami and then sat out by the firepit to drown the sorrows. Keep in mind the Trigger was such a good boy!!!

Sunday: Lunch at Ebbets Field. I had a grilled cheese and chili. Grilled cheese was sub-par, but the chili hit the spot (along with the ruffles that I snatched off of Elyse's plate). Precious Moments Chapel. I can't describe it. The sistine chapel of the midwest. Just go to the website. All I can say is that I'm so glad we got there in time for the tour. Upon our return home, we ate the best meal I've ever had. I think I thought it was so good because I can't make it for myself. Three people is an ideal number to cook for. Menu: grilled peppered pork loin with raspberry chipotle BBQ sauce, cheesy broccoli, garlic bread, and Emeril BAM! potatoes. Yum. I need it again right now. Then we watched Extreme Home Makeover and cried.

Summary: Springfield is really pretty at this time of year. I'm sorry, "the ozarks" are (is?) really pretty.
